Welcome, I am Here for You Now

Here are Free hypnotic inductions/guided meditations to help you through the Corona Virus pandemic.

I am a highly experienced psychotherapist with a spiritual orientation located in Park Slope, Brooklyn with 42 years experience helping individuals and couples from very diverse backgrounds overcome a wide range of difficulties. I offer both long and short-term therapy with a multi-disciplinary approach, incorporating:

  • Psychoanalytic psychotherapy and counseling
  • Hypnotherapy and self-hypnosis
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy
  • Meditation
  • Pet-assisted therapy

I have experienced all these methods as a patient myself, so I know personally how powerful psychotherapy is when enhanced by EMDR, meditation, and hypnosis. These modalities help you to relax and be more open to change. They tap unconscious processes, facilitating growth through faster reprocessing of traumatic memories and negative thoughts as well as recognizing and enhancing your strengths.

I can help you deal with anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem and assertiveness, trauma, memories, medical problems, relationship difficulties, smoking cessation and many other issues. See "Areas of Specialization" for more details.

I believe that successful therapy stems from the quality and strength of the relationship between patient and therapist. The more the therapist is involved in her own healing process, the more effectively she can inspire her patient’s growth. Understanding from the inside what the process of change is all about, she uses that understanding to connect empathically with the patient’s experiences, enhancing the bond between them.

In addition, the therapist’s healing process inspires within her a conviction of the possibilities for change that she passes on to her patients. Patients pick up unconsciously the therapist’s capacity for change and use that as inspiration for their own growth. Read more about these ideas in my paper "Countertransference, Sensory Images and the Therapeutic Cure", published in The Psychoanalytic Review.

I believe too that the changes therapy is capable of creating are a miracle. As Albert Einstein said, “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is.”

I’m available for a free brief phone consultation to discuss why you’re seeking help and to make sure I can assist you. If we feel we’re not a good fit, I'll be glad to suggest other practitioners.

I invite you to read more about psychoanalytic psychotherapy, EMDR, hypnotherapy, and animal-assisted therapy, read some of my articles describing how I use these methods, and learn about my background.

Testimonials and Endorsements

Testimonial:

"I didn't have a lot of hope that hypnosis was going to work, but I needed to do something. I went to see Susan Bady and had two sessions with her. I really had some preconceived notions about the whole thing, but it was more like visualization and I actually learned a lot. She taught me to look forward to my destination rather than freaking out. It's been a little more than 12 years, and so far, so good."

Endorsement:

"Many thanks to Susan Lee Bady for being our premier source for hypnosis in Brooklyn! I have known her for over 6 years, and it's been a pleasure knowing that our clients are receiving the therapy that they so desperately need, when they need it. The bond between therapist and patient is critical, and that is her specialty."
